Home at last...

So I thought that I might be done for the weekend, but nope not yet.. Mom called and I went in and served a banquet at the Fireside from noon - 2pm and then headed home to grab the guys. We ended up going to Chuck E. Cheeses, once you mention that place you are stuck going... So we just got home now a little after 6pm, and there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING on the agenda..

Jerett, Joel, Avery and Aden Mangan

All 4 boys play hockey for the Brookings Rangers, the three younger boys are termites and Joel is a Mite. So everyone but Joel played this weekend!

Saturday
Wow, Saturday was a crazy day! Jerett's first game of his Termite Fest Tournament started at 8:45am. The team played very good and all the kids had fun. After the game was over we headed to the Fireside to have some breakfast with Grandma Judy. Then we were off to the Movie Theater to buy gift cards for the two birthday parties that we were invited to. A quick trip to Wal-Mart for the birthday cards and then straight back to the ice arena for the 12:15pm game. Jerett was excited to play and came within inches of getting a goal, no luck, BUT definitely and "A+" for effort. In the locker room when he took off his helmet, I was laughing because I don't think that Jerett has ever worked hard enough to break a sweat, but he was soaked. You could have rung out his socks!! My niece, Danika, was in town from Nebraska to watch Jerett play, she ran Joel to the Bowling Alley at 1pm for his friends birthday party. After the game, Jerett and I ran home to clean up and get ready to go to the Staurolite Inn for his friends birthday party. Jeremy got home from Pro Lube, and we were off again, with both boys at birthday parties, Jeremy and I were scheduled to work the concession stand at the ice arena. We worked there from 4pm-11:30pm, so needless to say it was a crazy day!!

Sunday
This morning was a rise and shine deal. The boys had spent the night at Grandma Judy's. So Jeremy and I were over there a little after 7am to get Jerett ready for his 8am hockey game! We all made it on time and Jerett played his best game ever. The whole entire team was unbelievable, they have come so far and learned so much and have really grown as a team. Jeremy asked me why I get so emotional when they both play, it is because to me they are still babies, and to see them out there falling, crashing, banging around their sticks, I can't believe how much they have grown and how they are little people. When this game was over the kids got to line up and have their names called to go up and get a medal! They were all beaming with pride, so we gathered for a quick team photo! Of course, everyone was hungry, so we went to the Fireside for Breakfast, headed home, and now I hear that there are plans to head to Sioux Falls with another hockey family to celebrate at Chuck E. Cheeses! So I guess, our busy day isn't quite over!

"Thing 1 & Thing 2"

Jerett, "Donkey," and Mom

Well, we just got back from Florida Wednesday and I must say it is good to be home. I think that it is so true that you need a vacation from your vacation... This was our 3rd year going to Disney World and we had the whole gang along again. Jeremy, Me, Joel, Jerett, Kenneth, Judy, and Phyllis! We got there on Tuesday, the 27th and returned on Wednesday, February 4th. Long trip but it was pretty good. For all of you that are thinking that we were lucky to get away to better weather... wrong, it pretty much rained the entire time and they had record lows! Sooooo, YEAH! Although, we did a pretty good job of getting around.. We had alot of fun riding the rides and Jerett got to make some money while we were there. He lost 2 teeth on two different days while we were on vacation. So the tooth fairy found him in Florida, for $10 a tooth!
(Everything costs more at Disney Land!!)

Can you say... "hockey!"

This was as far as they made it into the house...
Jerett reminding me of our deal...

Now you can see why the other team was sooooo scared...

Well, today has been a pretty long day. We left the house today before noon to head up to Watertown for the Watertown Mite Fest Hockey Tournament. Joel played the first game at 1:15pm and they all played very well. He did have a couple shots on goal, although he was unable to score. After that game we had a little time to spare so we went for a drive to see the great city of Watertown, ok so that took about 30 minutes.. haha We returned to the ice arena for Jerett's first official hockey game. Jerett's game was at 4:45pm he was super pumped because he had been bragging to Joel, that he was going to teach him how to play real hockey!! So the war was on. Jerett did absolutely AWESOME! He even scored 1 goal and had another good shot on goal, but that one was blocked. We made a deal with the boys that during their 1st hockey game if they get a goal, that they could choose one friend and we would go to Chuck E. Cheeses... So you can imagine as soon as Jerett got his goal, all I could see was his mouth moving and his arms waving at me.... I knew that he was reminding me of the DEAL! Joel's last game started at 6:45pm and they did very good, although they were all so tired that the game seemed to be played in slow motion. We made it back home, and the boys are so tired that they tried to sleep on the living room floor, right as you come into the house. Congrats, to Joel and Jerett for an excellent day of hockey!! I am a proud hockey mom tonight!!

Quiet weekend..

Well, this Saturday Joel was invited to MacKenzie's birthday party. He got to go to the "Gold Medal Gymnastic" club for a couple of hours. He had lots of fun although, he was a bit sore from all his flipping around. Jerett and I got to enjoy some down time and we laid in bed and watched "Jungle Book." It was actually really nice. Saturday night we just hung out together at home...

Today, Joel and I headed to Watertown for his hockey game. We left early, because the roads were very slick. We made it there in plenty of time and the game was a pretty good one. The score was 1-1 and the other team made their goal in the last 7 seconds of the game. It was almost a shut out!!

Hockey Tournament in Big Stone

Well, it was another hockey weekend. On Sunday, we traveled to Big Stone for Joel's Mite Team. I wanted to get a few pics for those of you who aren't really familiar to what it means to be a hockey family. (for our Arizona family) So to set the scene..We left town around noon on Sunday, just as a Blizzard Warning was issued for our area and also where we were headed. As you can see the Ice Arena is OUTDOORS! So I took a picture of Jeremy stirring up the fire in the "WARMING ROOM" as you can see the bleachers next to him. It was cold, but it was FUN! Joel and his team played great and had lots of fun. Joel had 6 goals and a few assists and he even blocked a shot when he was playing goalie! I also was so excited, because I was able to catch a picture of Joel while he hit a slap shot, you can see him (red #30)falling down while the puck is in the air and he did score!!! Congrats to Joel and the rest of the Brookings Rangers Mite Team!

Jerett's Sleep Study

Last Tuesday Jerett went to the Avera Children's Hospital for a "Sleep Study." Jerett was scheduled for a sleep study because we were trying to figure out why he literally runs in his sleep. It was quite cute when he was a small toddler, Jeremy and I would joke that he was getting tired when he went into "rut." Now that he is older and BIGGER it is not so cute when he leaves bruises on our legs because of the constant kicking. Also, he hasn't been able to learn to sleep alone, because he needs the somebody to kick against. So usually Joel gets stuck with him.

So Jerett and I arrived there at 8:00pm to check-in to our rooms. They got started right away getting him hooked up to over 30 different wires that were attached to his legs, stomach, chest, ribs, neck, ears, throat, mouth, nose, and head. Jerett's room had a camera that was recording his every move and comment. It was quite an entertaining evening. They said that I could lay with him until he fell asleep and then I needed to quietly exit the room to my room. I did this around 10:00pm and he made it until 12:45am. The nurse came and got me and said that he was calling for me. I laid down beside him for about 10min. and then left again. Around 2:30am the nurse returned to my room laughing that he was "demanding that they get his mom!" They allowed me to sleep the rest of the night with him and they commented on how much better he slept with me next to him.

At 6:00am they started unhooking all of the wires. Jerett was tired and so was I but we made it through. We should know some results within the next week.
